Adapting to Virtual learning through the pandemic

The benefits of eLearning courses for aspiring pilots

The COVID19 pandemic has changed the way students receive an education, with more than half the schools shut down globally. Collages and campuses have also been largely empty due to the efforts in curbing the spread of the Coronavirus. Students with dreams of studying at an international school have been unable to travel because of strict lockdown restrictions and travel bans across the globe.

The solution to keeping students in class and motivated has been the rise of virtual education. Many universities are now offering online courses and eLearning courses to help students navigate the pandemic without losing an education. But it may be a challenge to incorporate all courses online, and some schools may not be equipped to handle an eLearning platform.

Is eLearning an option for pilot training?

It may seem quite unbelievable that someone can learn to fly a plane from home. You need to train in a real aircraft! But aspiring aviation students can definitely start their preparation by opting for online theory courses. Along with flying hours, a pilot must be knowledgeable in certain aviation subjects, and students must clear their theory exams to qualify for flight training.

What are the options available to aviation students?

The International Aviation Academy of New Zealand or IAANZ has crafted an eLearning program called the eAviator for aspiring pilots and aviation students. Industry experts and professionals have designed the course, and each student is appointed a classified tutor to help them through the course.

Students can prepare for the PPL theory examinations with Aviation Services Limited (ASL). These will count towards gaining a New Zealand Private Pilot Licence, provide you a taste of the aviation world, and, if required, credits towards your NCEA.

What are the benefits of eAviator?

  • Easy to follow the course structure
  • Designed by industry experts
  • Covers the CAA required syllabus
  • Weekly webinar with instructor
  • Book your assessment with ASPEQ
